Media coverage from Erkelenz

Last week was extremely exciting for our team. After weeks and months of preparation, we were able to commission our first demonstration project for innovative hydrogen technologies in the Rhineland mining region.

We had lots of guests at the launch. Among others, the funding body, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), was there, as was the chair of the board of the Jülich Research Centre, Prof. Astrid Lambrecht. Our cluster emerged from the Institute for Sustainable Hydrogen Economy at the Research Centre and will be supported by it in the long term.

The response in the media

At the same time, we welcomed many representatives from the press. Here is an overview of how the media reported on our event.

Note:
Some of the reports are only available to subscribers.

Vulkan Verlag, which operates the H2 News platform, among other things, was a guest. You can find the report here. The team also conducted an interview with Dr Wilfried Kölscheid in Erkelenz.

A journalist from VDI Nachrichten was also present in Erkelenz. Click here to read the report.

A reporter from Westdeutscher Rundfunk conducted interviews. The result can be heard here, in the recording from 6 March, starting at around 11:10 minutes.

A TV crew from WDR also accompanied us throughout the day and wrote a report. Following the report on Lokalzeit Aachen, our spokesperson Peter Wasserscheid appeared as a guest on the programme.

Focus magazine reported on our project on its Earth platform. Focus Earth is the magazine’s exclusive platform for climate change and energy transition issues.

The guest speaker was Thomas Rachel (CDU), Member of the German Bundestag for Düren, who served as State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for 16 years until 2021 and was one of the key figures involved in the creation of our cluster.

The regional media was also well represented, for example by an editor from the Aachener Zeitung newspaper.

An editor from the Rheinische Post newspaper was also present and reported on the commissioning.

Our partner Hydrogenious has published an article about the joint project.

We are also mentioned in publications by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. For example, on the FONA platform – Research and Sustainability, and in the newsletter for energy and sustainability.
